Who is Eligible to Participate?

Cash incentives are available to all SDG&E™ customers with service sizes greater than 20kW who chose either new gas cooling technology or replace electric cooling applications with gas technology in order to permanently reduce peak energy. To qualify for an incentive, the gas technology must be installed in SDG&E™'s service territory.

Eligibility includes:

• Retrofit, new construction, remodel or gut/rehab & tenant finish applications.
• Process load applications.
• Commercial, institutional, retail and military applications, small and big box retail, cities, counties, military applications, community college districts, medical clinics, industrial, etc.
• Replacement of roof top DX units with centralized gas chillers.
• Any cooling load size - gas absorption chillers (single effect and double effect), gas-engine chillers.

How Do I Apply?

Please contact the Customer Service Center (CSC) at: 1-877-811-8700 and then fax, mail, or E-mail the application (PDF 253KB).

Once your completed application is received, the CSC will verify the project information and issue a reservation number. This reservation number is your assurance of reserved funds.

Applicant Checklist:

Applicants may assign incentives to a third party installer, energy service company, or designer. In order to qualify for the CoolGas program applicants must:

• Complete the CoolGas application and agree to the program terms
• Use a licensed HVAC contractor
• Install qualifying gas cooling equipment that reduces peak electrical load during the SDG&E™ peak season

How Much Can I Receive?

The incentive is based on a dollar per kW of peak load permanently reduced (see table below). A feasibility report for each application will be required to asses the amount of peak shift and the technology used.

Please contact the Customer Service Center (CSC) at: 1-877-811-8700 to reserve the funds and make sure your application is complete.

Notify the CSC when your equipment has been installed. Once the CSC has verified installation, you will receive your check. Please contact the CSC with any questions or problems.

The CoolGas Program is funded by California utility customers and is administered by SDG&E™ under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission through a contract awarded to Cypress, Ltd. California customers who choose to participate in this program are not obligated to purchase any additional services offered by contractors.
